On Friday, The Cake and Bake Show returned to London Excel for its annual appearance, which has just got bigger and bigger every year; the main reason being Great British Bake Off – of course! It was a 3 day show , with the appearances of some amazing celeb bakers from the lines of Candice Brown, Jane Asher, Juliet Sear – just to name a few.
There were showcases of many up and coming trends, live demos and Q&As by Le Cordon Bleu.
The show has many different sections from hosting a cake competition, where this year’s theme was around the world and so where the public would post their votes.
My favourite cake in all the competitions
Other sections were set up like market stalls bustling with all your baking novelties you sometimes struggle to find. Then there were stalls selling all their indulgent goodies!
Dr Oetker we’re hosting some amazing workshops including Dare to bake a new campaign where the public follow along on social media. On this day we were following Juliet Sear to make an eye ball cupcake, all ready for Halloween and/or a mermaid tail cupcake . I queued up for 2 sessions to try both out. They’re both very fun cupcakes to make and easily recreated at home . Especially now Dr oetker have mermaid decorating kits
For those who just wanted to take a more chilled approach they had a nail bar tucked away at the back where you could get your nails done in special cake colours . I think this was by London college of beauty but as a chef going back to work the next day I couldn’t get my nails done unfortunately.
Kitchen aid (one of the big sponsors) had a very eye catching stall. Imagine the amount of batter you could fit into that mixer!
I had a fab time at the show and picked up some bits to add to my equipment box. Indulged on some highly calorific bakes but most important to me I learnt some new skills from watching the live demos.
I can’t wait for the next show next year.
